- Enforce health eating habits Choose an appropriate bedtime that will allow your child to get an ample amount of sleep; provide a health breakfast each morning; encourage exercise; and limit television/electronic time each day.
- Stick to a routine Establish routines every day so that your child knows what to expect.
- Create a "Launch Pad" Designate a place for your child to keep their bookbag, lunch box, jackets, or anything else they may need for their school day. This prevents the time-consuming habit of having to look for items during the morning rush!
- Designate a space Define a space in your home for your child to complete his/her homework. The space should be a quiet place where they have access to supplies they may need, plenty of light, and enough room to work.
- Read, again and again Reading is important to your child! Spend some time each day reading with them, giving them the opportunity to read out loud to you.
- Learn always Look for ways to teach your child each and every day. As teachers, we can only do so much and we need your support at home, just as you need our support at school.
- Take the lead Display a strong work ethic for your child to observe. Make sure they catch you reading or doing your own "homework" while they're doing theirs.
- Talk often Spend some time talking with your child about school. What does he/she like? Dislike? What anxieties does he/she have? What things has she/he done well? Also, praise your child for their hard work!
- Show interest Take some time to meet the teachers and stay in contact with them! Parents and teachers working together help to make a more successful child!
- Expect success Expect your child to succeed in whatever they put their mind to. Always encourage him/her to do their very best, each and every time.
